Violetta Gaetani may not be new to the
music scene, as she’s been around it her whole life – but her EP is definitely
new to the music scene. Influenced by bands like 30 Seconds to Mars and
Paramore, it is a new sound that combines elements of modern and commercial
rock with the sound of metal guitars and heavy riffs and breakdowns.
Gaetani is both successful and down to
earth, her love for music shown in even the manner in which she speaks. She
began song-writing at the small age of ten and since, her love for music has
only grown stronger.
She describes her artist practice as one of
telling a story; she isn’t the kind to write songs that have no meaning. Though
she describes writing music for herself and her band, Afraid of My Neighbor, as
holding “completely different energies”, but both have such an important role
in her life.
Her ideal collaboration would be with David
Grohl from the Foo Fighters, describing him as a man she admires so much, but
would also like to work on music with different DJs. She’s all for creating new
sounds and finding where her music fits in the industry.
Her own music is usually love ballads,
which are songs very close to her heart – whilst her band gives her a stress
release, with powerful and catchy songs. Gaetani may not be well known in Australia,
but is certainly becoming a bigger player on the world stage than she ever
imagined.
